Giving Back
The Reason Rodger Gives
"Most people find that they either
have an ingrained understanding of why they give (or why they choose not to). It's not my intent to convince people that giving service or money to a charity is what they need to do. It is my intent to explain why I feel it is important and how it has helped me see a bigger picture in business and in the world.
Whenever I give my time or money to a worthwhile cause, I get to do something I feel is important. And not only does it help a particular group or part of the world but it helps me feel better about what I am contributing before I'm not around anymore. Buying a Benz doesn't feel the same as helping doctors in the Amazon.
Now, I don't believe that you have to donate to a charity to be a good person or to save the world. I know a lot of great people who don’t give and who make the world a good place. But even if you don’t have the time right now to give to an organization or the means to donate or you don’t see the point, don’t completely rule out the idea. You may find that in the right place and the right time for you, an opportunity to give will present itself and you won't be able to say no."
The Hope Alliance
Rodger supports The Hope Alliance because they focus on improving health care and quality of life in communities lacking the basic necessities of daily living. Their volunteer teams are currently providing medical, surgical, dental and vision care in Peru, Guatemala, Haiti, Nepal and Kenya. Rodger had an opportunity to go to the Peruvian Amazon with The Hope Alliance and translate for the doctors as they gave assistance to those in need.
Cause for Hope
Rodger also has had opportunities to translate for Cause for Hope representatives and mentor program participants. Cause for Hope pursues its objective of building self-reliance for individuals and families through separate, yet closely related programs such as:
Microcredit loans Business Training Vocational Loans and Training Economic Development and Job Creation Missionary Assistance English Language Classes Computer Classes
Be a Hero Foundation
Be A HERO creates heroes out of ordinary people by providing them with opportunities to change the world, one child at a time. Be A HERO opens the eyes of people everywhere to the wholesale destruction of children, and enlists everyone to the mission of mercy and social justice.
One of Rodger’s mentors and Network Marketing colleagues Bob Schmidt had a goal to donate one million dollars to this charity. Unfortunately, Bob didn’t live long enough to see his dream become a reality. His wife Barbara continues to help Be A HERO and is working toward Bob’s goal of one million. Because Rodger respects Bob and Barbara a great deal and since they know the founders and supported this charity, that endorsement was good enough for him.
Enterprise Mentors Intl.

East Rim Expeditions
Rodger is a volunteer Board Member of East Rim Expeditions. They are a non-profit organization based on the east border of Zion National Park in Southern Utah. Their goal is to inspire our participants to become thoughtful and competent leaders, adventurous and responsible outdoor enthusiasts, and environmentally aware citizens through outdoor adventure and wilderness travel.
